Northern Michigan fire raises concerns about firefighter safety on structures with metal roofs

Metal roofs are becoming more popular in northern Michigan because of their durability and low maintenance.

A recent house fire, though, caused some to question their impact on firefighter safety. The roofs make it very hard to get suppression penetration into the attic and into the involved areas of the home, a firefighter said.
