A 1920s-era four-plex in Orange County’s Olde Towne was meticulously restored by owner Hugh Siler. Tenants in its micro dwellings, each around 475 square feet, say moving in was liberating.
“We have three bowls and five plates,” one of the tenants, 24-year-old Cayla Alexander, told the Orange County Register. “But when you really come down to it, do you need anything else?”
Siler bought the building in 2011 and paid $585,000. As a measure to see whether or not the move was a good investment on Siler’s part, the Orange County Register reports that he has a waiting list of potential tenants, reflecting the national boom of tiny living that spans across different demographics and homebuyer types.
The restoration was detailed and historically accurate, garnering Siler recognition from the Old Towne Preservation Association.
