The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) issued a safety alert with guidance for the construction industry. Available in English and Spanish, COVID-19 Guidance for the Construction Workforce, provides tips for employers to reduce the risk of exposure to coronavirus for their workers. The advisory guidance focuses on the need to implement engineering, administrative, and work practice controls, along with the use of personal protective equipment.

The document advises construction companies to train workers on how to properly put on, use/wear, and take off protective clothing and equipment. Alcohol-based wipes should be used to clean tools before and after use.

OSHA also advises that in-person meetings (including toolbox talks and safety meetings) be kept as short as possible. The number of workers in attendance at these meetings should be kept small, with social distancing practices followed.
