Founded in 2016, Blokable is a prefab manufacturer creating tech-ready, customizable housing units. Founder Aaron Holm's corporate strategy is to provide a solution for the housing market's affordability problem, and for homelessness.

The rectangular units offered by Blokable, called "Bloks", will cost $150 - $350 per square foot, range from 18 to 34 feet in length, and can be stacked to form higher-density housing. Curbed reports that by manufacturing in a central facility, a WWII-era shipyard on Vancouver, Washington's Columbia River, both the design and building processes are cut in half.

Each unit includes a BlokSense module featuring ways to adjust, track, and control power, light, water, temperature, and security systems (units can even link up to the messaging app Slack to enable communication with building ownership). Holm says each unit will feature different modes and settings for the unit’s systems, including sleep and vacation.
