Miele’s new G6700 dishwasher line offers smart features and an auto-dispensing detergent disk.

“The G7000 Dishwasher line is an extremely exciting launch for Miele,”says Jan Heck, president and CEO of Miele. “It is one of our biggest yet. All users have to do is load and unload the machine and occasionally replace the PowerDisk. Everything else can be left to the machine.”

Designed with autonomy as a focus, the G6700 line is heavy on the smart technology that enables homeowners to do less to get their dishes clean, according to the company.

“Featuring AutoDos with PowerDisk, the G7000 series revolutionizes dishwashing as the world’s first dishwasher that automatically dispenses the correct amount of detergent based on the selected program and degree of soiling for more effective and efficient cleaning,” the company says.

The company says the machines use powder detergent that dissolves quickly, protects glass and silverware, and introduces enzymes that clean in hot or cold temperatures. If a consumer prefers traditional detergent dispensers, the machines also include two-compartment containers on the doors.

If a homeowner needs to monitor the dishwasher while they take a quick trip to the store, they can use the Miele mobile app to start or stop the WiFi-enabled dishwasher and check detergent levels remotely. The dishwashers are also compatible with smart home hubs such as Amazon Alexa.

But the dishwashers’ smart features go further than remote starts and stops. The line offers options that customize the experience and reduce waste. “The G7000 Dishwashers can also be programmed to start at the same time or different times throughout the week, as well be programmed to run different wash cycles,” the company says. “This intelligent system also knows to cancel a start if the appliance door has not been opened between cycles.”

Miele took one of the most familiar interfaces to many users, the smartphone, and applied the design to the touchscreen menu that uses both text and symbols to communicate with consumers. Users can tap, swipe, and drag through a machines’ full-color touchscreen.

Besides high-tech offerings, the line includes the newly designed FlexLine baskets. The company says that the baskets include specific sections for cutlery, small items, and larger, more cumbersome kitchen utensils such as ladles. If a homeowner wants to throw a wine glass into the machine, they can move the left-hand section to the side to accommodate its height.

Other features include LED interior lighting, a handless door users can kick open, a quick wash option, and a redesigned water circuit that can run on as low as 1.5 gallons of water.

The line will be available in July 2020.
