New Airthings Hub Gives Access to Indoor Air Quality Data Anytime, Anywhere
The new Airthings Hub unites all the smart Airthings devices, bringing them online to give homeowners 24/7 access to their indoor air quality measurements.
“With more people than ever relying on smart home ecosystems to provide them with the critical information they need to live healthy and productive lives, we felt it was crucial to deliver a Hub that will simplify the process of indoor air quality monitoring and make it an essential aspect of our customers’ everyday routines,” Oyvind Birkenes, CEO of Airthings, says. “In order to truly gain an understanding of your home’s IAQ and threats like Radon and VOCs, regular monitoring is necessary. “

With the Hub, homeowners can get real-time updates on their indoor air quality on their smartphone via the Wave app, even when they are remote. Because the battery-operated Hub uses an ethernet cable, it is not reliant on the strength of a home’s WiFi, according to the company. For those who are more desktop-inclined, the company has also created an Airthings dashboard that is accessible online. On the dashboard, consumers can view, compare, and export their data.

A single Hub can connect up to 10 devices, and because of its long-range connection capabilities, one unit can provide full coverage to most private homes, the company says. Homeowners can choose to mount it on a wall or place it on a flat surface. The Hub kit includes everything needed for installation, including the Airthings Hub, ethernet cable, instruction manual, mounting bracket, rubber bumper pads, power supply adaptor, and an interchangeable supply blade suitable for the US, EU, or UK.

“Our goal is to educate people everywhere about how air quality can impact their daily lives on both a short-term and long-term scale,” Birkenes says. “By helping people track their air quality in real-time, even when they’re not at home, Airthings Hub will empower customers to breathe easy by keeping tabs on their air quality no matter the time or the location.”
The Hub is compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and IFTTT, and the company says that consumers can use the information from their Wave devices to control fans, purifiers, humidifiers and more to optimize the indoor environment. With a LED status indicator on the Hub, consumers can check if their device is connected to a power source, the Cloud, or a device.
