The Countertop Category is Vibrant, But Quartz Continues to Rise

Granite, designers say, is dead. Well, maybe not dead, but it is on the way out. Although it leads in market share, the stone’s ubiquity and varying quality have diminished its cachet.

Sally Chavez, ASID, LEED AP ID+C, senior designer for Wilsonart, notes, “Homeowners are looking to use materials that support busier lifestyles and not add to their to-do list, like: Remember to seal your granite every six months.”

Thankfully, people who like natural stone have alternatives.
