Ceramic tile manufacturer representative Tile of Spain has added 113 new collections to its Quick Ship Collection and recently announced the most popular fall tile trends.

The Quick Ship Collection receives an update annually, and consists of a wide variety of tile products that are available with a shorter lead time, thus opening the door for more availability of Spanish products in the U.S.

“As new trends in architecture and design continue to emerge year-to-year, it is exciting to see how Spanish tile manufacturers evolve their production and design processes to adapt to the ever-changing styles,” says Rocamador Rubio, director for Tile of Spain. “We are thrilled to expand the Tile of Spain USA Quick Ship Collection for the eighth consecutive year and provide a resource for U.S.-based architects, designers, installers and homeowners to discover cutting-edge ceramics from Spain.”

Spanish tile companies expanded available products to more than 100, all available in just four to eight weeks. Some companies offered within the Quick Ship Collection include Alaplana, Cristacer, Living Ceramics, Onix Mosaico, Roca, and Ceramica Saloni.

In addition to the expanded Quick Ship Collection, Tile of Spain announced the five top tile trends that the architecture and design community should know about for next year.

TIle of Spain says there has been a renewed interest in upgrading outdoor spaces, stemming from the need to stay at home amid the pandemic. Even before that though, more designers were reporting increasing demand for outdoor living spaces, according to fourth quarter reports from Brown Jordan Outdoor Kitchens.

Seamlessly transitioning between the outdoors and indoors with a unified flooring can give the illusion of more space, says Tile of Spain. Two centimeter pavers can be ideal for this type of usage but are also easier to install than traditional mortar applications. Ceramic tiles are able to withstand temperature changes, weather, and humidity, making it a strong contender for outdoor use.

Gauged porcelain slabs, commonly found on walls and floors, are now being used for multi-use surfaces in kitchens and bathrooms, according to Tile of Spain. It is not just the aesthetic and look of the large porcelain slabs, but its antimicrobial features and durability as well. Tile of Spain calls gauged porcelain slabs as “perhaps leading the trends as most versatile design solution this season.”

Subway tiles are not going anywhere anytime soon, as there remains a strong market for these small rectangular and square tiles. Tile of Spain expects more diversity in subway tile finishes to emerge outside of the standard matte and glossy glazes.

An innate connection to nature (or biophilia) appears in fall tile trends within the realms of color and texture. Tile of Spain says natural color schemes and the natural tones of fired clay are popular, especially paired with white, black, and gray. Green hues can help create organic feelings, while oranges and browns can create a relaxing atmosphere.

One notable trend identified by Tile of Spain was the fact that many of these trends have continued throughout the year. What will come in the future, though, is the possible expansion of existing collections by broadening finish options and coordinating accents.
