Deckorators Set to Release Affordable, Entry-Level Composite Decking

Decking manufacturer Deckorators says its new Trailhead line is an affordably priced composite decking line ideal for entry-level projects.

The new decking line will be priced in the low $2-per-lineal-foot range. In addition, the company announced three other product releases for 2021.

Trailhead consists of wood-plastic composite (WPC) decking at an affordable price but with the company’s same 25-year limited warranties on structural, stain and fade, along with a removal and replacement warranty, which the company says is unique to them. The removal and replacement warranty covers labor costs to remove and replace any faulty products.

“As people spend more time at home and value their outdoor space more than ever, many homeowners are looking to trade up from wood to low-maintenance composite decking,” says Chris Camfferman, managing director of marketing at Deckorators. “Deckorators Trailhead WPC decking offers the affordability of wood without forfeiting the desirable features of our composite decking, like trend-setting aesthetics, low-maintenance durability, and a best-in-class warranty. We’re excited to offer a new composite decking option that gives homeowners a path to the perfect outdoor space in their own backyard.”

Deckorators says this line offers a highly compressed core, a durable and scratch-resistant polyethylene cap on three sides, and a 16-inch-on-center joist span.

The new WPC decking will be available starting in January and features three colorways: Ridgeline, Pathway, and Canyon, or one gray, one brown, and one red-brown.

Each of these colors are lightly streaked and will feature a flat-grain embossing to deliver that wood-like appearance.

Trailhead boards measure to ⅞ inch by 5½ inches and are available in 12-, 16-, and 20-foot lengths in either a solid or grooved-edge.

Deckorators’ additional product launches include an expansion of the Vista WPC line. Vista will now offer both a light gray and medium brown color option in vertical grains.

This WPC line offers the appearance of exotic woods and initially only included two colors. Just like Trailhead, Vista products include the same three 25-year limited warranties. Vista boards come in 3½-inch or 5½-inch widths in both solid or grooved-edge profiles.

Deckorators' Voyage decking line

For its mineral-based composite decking, Voyage, Deckorators will now offer 9¼-inch widths and 21-foot long boards to increase design flexibility.

Varied plank sizes have been an interior design trend, and now residential pros can bring that trend to the outdoors, the company says.

Compared to PVC composites, mineral-based composites are similar in weight yet much stronger, absorbs less moisture, and allows for less thermal movement, the company says.

But unlike other composites the company offers, Voyage will now come with a 50-year structural warranty, another new introduction for 2021. The same goes for other mineral-based composites, such as Vault, Frontier, picture frame boards, and porch flooring. Other warranties remain at 25 years.
