Custom tile fabricator Artaic has added to its new Glyph collection of graphic tiles with Storytime, offering bright, playful designs and graphic icons.

“Taking a modern approach to the ancient concept of ‘Hieroglyphics,’ the collection showcases simple, crisp images that tell a detailed narrative,” the company says. “Using the Storytime designs, clients are afforded an entirely custom process, every step of the way, allowing any vision — from what the icon represents, to how it’s styled, to how different icons can be combined together to set the stage for a one-of-a-kind production.”

Established in 2007, Artaic uses robotic technology and computers to customize, design, and fabricate small to large-scale production mosaic installations for a variety of projects. The company says its Tylist software enables their in-house design team to easily collaborate with clients on the creation of modern mosaics.

Made from 1- and ½-inch tiles, Storytime designs can be custom fit to any wall, floor, ceiling, pool, or exterior facade, the company says. The sizes allow modular capabilities, creating a more seamless design process than ever before, the company says.

“Through the Storytime series, we aim to uplift the unique stories of our clients through a playful, communicative approach that allows us to explore new and creative possibilities of mosaic tile,” says Ted Acworth, CEO and founder of Artaic. “In addition to our depth of color choice, we’re also providing clients an avenue to easily match walls to floors and other surfaces to create a stunning modern style that makes any setting a showstopper.”

For Storytime, Artaic’s design team hand-selected a variety of themes for various environments and occasions; the themes can be used as an inspiration point in creating additional custom graphics.

“The collection’s designs include but are not limited to, Beach, Drinks, Fruit, Treats, Leisure, Music, Sports, and Woodland,” Artaic says. “Storytime can be further customized through new combinations of icons, development of new icons, and a variety of linework, color blocking, outline, and fill color options.”

Artaic says specifiers may also mix and match icons to create an entirely new, customized look. For example, they can pair Woodland with Music to create Campfire Song.

In addition to the new introduction, the Glyph Collection is also adding a new material for the company: vitreous glass. The tiles offer a color palette of more than 180 vivid options, which give specifiers and contractors the ability for shades to be mixed and blended to create a perfect color match. The collection’s “customization possibilities are nearly endless,” the company says.

Artaic explains that customization is easy because of the process the company uses. Its design team digitally renders the imagery for each mosaic, then transforms the concept into its final form.
