Jeld-Wen Introduces System That Transforms a Standard Door into a Barn Door
Window and door maker Jeld-Wen has unveiled a new sytem that allows contractors to convert new or salvaged doors into barn doors.
DesignGlide barn door hardware makes it easy to bring the function and style of barn doors to almost any space without reframing or custom doors required, the company says.
“With DesignGlide hardware, we open the door for homeowners to incorporate the form and functionality of barn doors in a range of designs,” says Jim Parello, vice president of marketing at Jeld-Wen. “This is just one of the many ways we are working with builders, architects, dealers, and homeowners to develop products that allow customers to design the home of their dreams.”
Because barn doors are usually larger in size than a typical interior door, contractors usually cannot use a standard slab, the company says. “Jeld-Wen’s new patent-pending DesignGlide hardware—the first of its kind on the market today—remedies this problem,” the company says.
Accent rails attach to the top and bottom of any standard-sized 80-inch interior door slab. Installed with a matching, soft-close rail and hardware, the door is now the proper length to cover the opening.
Available in satin nickel and matte black finishes, DesignGlide hardware fits almost any architectural style, including contemporary, farmhouse, and modern Craftsman.
