Home Depot confirmed Sept. 8 that hackers breached its computer systems earlier this year. Millions of customers have been potentially exposed to credit card and debit card theft. Professional builders and contractors make up as much as 40 percent of the retailer’s sales and about 4 percent of its total customers. Home Depot is offering free credit-monitoring services to customers who may have been impacted.
