Suburban office campuses are becoming increasingly obsolete across the nation, but developers see them as great spaces to build projects that balance live, work, and play for their residents.

Realtor.com reports that developers are converting crumbling office parks into homes with affordable rent prices that could lure Millennials away from expensive urban cores. Many of these projects have some sort of a downtown-style district with a mix of office and retail.

Developments are springing up in Pittsburgh and in towns in Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York.

Not all residents and elected officials in suburbia welcome the company. Redevelopments of corporate campuses throughout the country have run into resistance from locals who are concerned that higher density housing means more traffic, pressure on school systems, higher crime and other city-style problems.
