While women have not historically made up a majority of the construction workforce, Monica Wheaton, VP of customer success, residential construction division for ECI Software Solutions, is hoping to change that. As an ambassador for the She Built Foundation, Wheaton recently collaborated with the Edmonds School District, in Edmonds, Wash., to introduce young students to opportunities in the trades. Through the collaboration, Wheaton brought 625 copies of "The House That She Built" book, which showcases women doing every job in homebuilding, to 25 schools. As an ambassador for the program, Wheaton also has helped more than 300 students learn about careers in the trades through hands-on events, and in the fall, she is expanding the program to reach even more students.
