Structural connectors manufacturer Simpson Strong-Tie has introduced a new tie system that allows contractors to install post-and-beam framing system with hidden joinery rather than a standard connection.

"We recognize that some homeowners want to highlight the beauty of their wood structures by hiding the hardware," says Sam Hensen, vice president and general manager for connectors and lateral systems. "With this innovative product, contractors can now easily install a connector that delivers structural strength for pergola, patio cover, or arbor projects while having the aesthetic look their customer wants."

The new product is designed for connections from the post to the beam in outdoor living spaces and other types of wood structures. It will work with structural members ranging from 4xs to 6xs or even larger, the company says.

Easy to install, the system has flat elements that allow contractors to mark where holes need to be drilled. Locator tabs help with proper positioning.
