According to MarketWatch, Brentwood topped real estate investment management firm HomeUnion’s rankings for the best places for young homebuyers.

The median home in Brentwood sells for $178,700, nearly $20,000 less than the national median home. The average monthly mortgage payment is $1,169, the average commute time is 30 minutes, and 87 percent of the public schools in the town are in the 80th percentile for Missouri.

Other places that ranked in HomeUnion’s top ten places to buy include Boca Raton, Fla., Mount Lebanon, Pa., Chesterland, Ohio, and Edmond, Okla. The cities, which were spread out across the country, generally had one factor in common: their suburban locations.
