When it comes to home renovation, bathrooms have become a major area of focus for homeowners. A recent study from home remodel and design platform Houzz found homeowners in 2024 care more about how their bathrooms meet their personal needs than they do about prioritizing resale value. Based on a survey of more than 1,200 homeowners, the 2024 U.S. Houzz Bathroom Trends Study highlights that when looking to upgrade their bathrooms, homeowners are prioritizing functionality, sustainability, their own eclectic styles, and high-quality features, among other design choices.

The share of homeowners renovating to make their space more accommodating increased 4 points, to 27%, in 2024 compared with last year. Meanwhile, the share of people focused on resale value dropped 5 percentage points, from 31% in 2023 to 26% in 2024. “Can no longer stand the style” and “Old bathroom deteriorated or broke down” remain the top two reasons for tackling a bathroom remodeling project.
