An estimated 700,000 buyers who lost their homes to foreclosure, scarring their credit score, will re-enter the mortgage market this year, the L.A. Times reports.

The data comes from credit tracker TransUnion, which also says that in the next five years, a total of 2.2 million other borrowers scarred by the housing crisis will be eligible for a home loan over the next five years.

To come up with this estimate, TransUnion analyzed the credit ups and downs of 180 million consumers between 2006 and 2014.
