Woodworks by Ted Todd, a United Kingdom-based flooring manufacturer, entered the U.S. market this year, and its reclaimed antique wood offerings tie themes of sustainability and authenticity together.
The company, established in 1993, reclaims wood floors and old timbers from factories and cotton mills in the UK. In 1997, it started producing new flooring that mimics the look of the refurbished, reclaimed flooring in its portfolio. All flooring products are guaranteed to be sustainably sourced, and 95% of the manufacturer’s wood is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
Woodworks by Ted Todd’s entrance into the U.S. market comes at a time when more homeowners and residential pros seek products with bespoke, authentic, and artisanal features, flooring included. In addition, sustainability continues to be a concern and increasingly demanded among today’s homeowners and buyers.

The company now offers its new wood, reclaimed wood, aged wood, and antique wood flooring collections nationwide through international shipping. Products can be seen in-person at the company’s New York City showroom. Woodworks by Ted Todd also offers bespoke options for specific project needs.
The antique offerings include oak and elm, both restored to their original state with some natural aging features such as “distress” marks from years of use.
During the 1970s, much of the elm population died from Dutch Elm Disease, and the company says it can only be purchased through other wood reclaimers. Reclaimed oak flooring comes in seven different tones and formats to fit in traditional and contemporary projects, says the brand.

Franklin Parquet de Versailles - Antique collection
Rounding out the antique line of flooring is the Rare Finds collection, a line consisting of reclaimed wood dating back to hundreds of years. The line features restored oak, pine, teak, larch, and jarrah. One pine flooring hails from the Old War Office, a London landmark where many historic events took place.
Woodworks by Ted Todd also produces a tribute to an ancient Japanese process called Shou Sugi Ban, a method that chars wood to produce deep, silver tones. The Carbonised reclaimed wood line features antique elm, pine, and oak. Craftspeople utilized the Japanese method to create a square, chevron, and circular pattern.
The company’s aged flooring collection ties in the company’s reclaimed and new wood lines by taking new wood and adding antique properties. The products are aged for 24 months to draw out shapes, textures, and movements from the French oak. Patterns available include plank, chevron, herringbone, and parquet.
