Inman News reports that Walk Score has tweaked the way it shows crime data – instead of showing crime density, the new maps will show crime rates.
Chief technology officer at Walk Score Matt Lerner told Inman News that “the problem with other crime maps is the simply show you how many crimes have been reported in an area, this makes areas with a lot of people like downtown look unsafe, because where there are more people, there are more crimes reported.”
