Wall-hung or floating vanities are extremely popular in modern and transitional bathrooms, but finding one at an affordable price is extremely difficult. We found some options.

Trendy and modern, floating vanities have been popular for some time, and they show no sign (yet) of abating. Different people like them for different reasons. Buyers and developers in urban areas like the fact that wall-hung vanities gives bathrooms the illusion of space, allowing light to flow under the unit and making the space feel bigger. The open space also reduces visual clutter.

“In terms of lifestyle, we see a movement toward modern and transitional amongst all demographics,” says Trevor Tran, the director of marketing for Ronbow Corp. “Space is an essence when it comes to metropolitan cities, where millennials prefer to live, and also with the tiny-house hype in the recent years, smart storage is very desirable.”

James Lentaigne, director of sales and marketing for Drummonds, says wall-hung vanities require less space, which means they work in smaller bathrooms. But he says the product is work equally well in a large bathroom.

Floating Bathroom Vanities Provide Modernization & Flexibility

Floating vanities also give off a cool, modern vibe that is trending pretty hard in the bath right now. Those clean lines, says the National Kitchen and Bath Association and HOUZZ, are very popular. In fact, both entities report that modern and transitional styles have now overtaken traditional styles in popularity among designers and consumers.

Wall-hung vanities give customers flexibility to install to whichever height they’d like, Tran explains. This works well for baths than either need to me American With Disabilites requirememts, and it’s great for homeowners who want to install the unit at the height that best suits them.

But floating vanities aren’t cheap. Smaller units measuring 18 inches for powder rooms can run anywhere from $160 to $300, but it’s rather difficult to find a standard-sized vanity measuring 24 inches to 30 inches for less than $500—difficult but not impossible.
