The pandemic has created a greater importance on wellness and well-being, so consumers are focusing on home improvement projects that focus on self-care. Upgrading the tub makes the list.

Even before the pandemic, spa-like bathrooms where homeowners can escape and reset were seeing a resurgence. The American Institute of Architects’ Home Design Trends Survey cited a 42% increase in requests for a spa-like, more high-end bathroom design.

Where bathrooms were once fitted with whirlpool, hot tub-like bathtubs, modern day bathrooms are being fitted with freestanding, soaking bathtubs. The National Kitchen and Bath Association’s September Kitchen and Bath Market Outlook report found that while remodeling projects have seen a dip, but the kitchen will bear the brunt of the decreases. Bathrooms, on the other hand, are projected to drop by only 1%, compared to 12% for kitchens.

Because of its scale, a freestanding tub steals the show. If both relaxation and the bathtub are the centerpiece of a room, why not have one that stands out while providing optimal performance and comfort?

We gathered seven freestanding standout tubs that feature unique materials, designs, and shapes.
