These 7 U.S. Cities May Be Underwater by 2100

Rising water levels caused by the warming ocean could put some coastal U.S. cities underwater by 2100.

By conservative estimates, cities around the world could witness more than 6 feet of flooding by the year 2100. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has predicted that sea levels could rise by 10 to 12 feet if global emissions continue unabated.

According to Business Insider, some of the most vulnerable cities in the U.S. include New Orleans, La.; Miami; Houston; Atlantic City, N.J.; Charlston, S.C.; Boston, Ma.; and Virgina Beach, Va. Several of these metros have already seen weather events put them under water temporarily, but if the sea levels rise to expected rates, their underwater state may become permanent.
