The oldest members of Generation Z are turning 27 years old in 2024 and many are planning to buy a home within the next five years. According to real estate marketing platform Realtor.com, 18% of Gen Zers already own a home or are married to a homeowner. However, for those who are in the process of looking for a home, some cities are proving to be strong contenders based on their home prices and general livability. Of the largest U.S. cities, Salt Lake City was ranked as the top choice for Gen-Z homebuyers, followed by Abilene, Texas, and Des Moines, Iowa, among others.
“Salt Lake City is the perfect city for Gen Z,” says Salt Lake City real estate agent Joel Carson, president and principal broker at Utah Real Estate. “There’s always something to do in our very walkable city—from world-class skiing, hiking, and boating. There are phenomenal restaurants here for those who are foodies. Plus, there are five national parks just a few hours’ drive away.” Read more
