New York’s post-Hurricane Sandy Build it Back program passes major milestone

The program dispensed 4,477 reimbursement checks sent to Superstorm Sandy victims

New York’s Build it Back program, instituted after Hurricane Sandy, completed its 1,000th construction project since Mayor Bill de Blasio overhauled it last spring. The program dispensed 4,477 reimbursement checks sent to Superstorm Sandy victims, amounting to $85.8 million since the beginning of 2014. Over 50% of active homeowners in the program have now been served, according program staff.
