Public Comment Period Open for the 2024 National Green Building Standard Update

The 45-day public comment period for Draft 3 of the 2024 National Green Building Standard (NGBS) is now open and will close on Nov. 18, 2024. Originally launched in 2007 by the International Code Council and the National Association of Home Builders, the NGBS was the first point-based rating system approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for green residential construction and development. The latest draft includes updates to align with newer building codes and introduces new compliance options for existing structures and buildings in tropical climates. Home Innovation Research Labs, an ANSI-accredited body, is managing the development process.
