U.S., Canada still at odds over softwood lumber trade

Canadian exports account for about 28% of the U.S. softwood market.

After 100 days of spirited negotiations, U.S. and Canadian officials have not been able to agree on terms for a new softwood lumber agreement.

Significant differences reportedly remain with the two countries currently operating without an agreement. The previous trade deal expired in October 2015. Canadian exports account for about 28% of the U.S. softwood market.
