Open shelving in the kitchen used to be a top trend among homeowners, but now homeowners are gravitating toward minimalist kitchens with closed cabinetry and hidden appliances, according to housing market and design platform Houzz. This has made incorporating storage solutions into kitchen design more important than ever. Whether it's including hidden compartments behind the backsplash or adding a built-in stool to reach items in tall cabinets, there are a number of ways to optimize kitchen storage.
