Storyliving by Disney Announces Second Residential Community
Storyliving by Disney, a residential community development project that aims to create magical, Disney-themed neighborhoods, has announced its second community: Asteria. The residential development will be located near Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, N.C.—a far departure from Storyliving's first community in California’s Coachella Valley.
Asteria will draw inspiration from the natural beauty of the region. The community will utilize 1,500 acres of land in the heart of Chatham County, an area that “has set the standard for innovative growth and thoughtful planning,” according to Julian Rawl, co-founder, Preston Development Company. The Disney development will be part of a larger master-planned community, Chatham Park.
Storyliving by Disney: A Place Called Asteria
Ideally nestled within the town of Pittsboro, N.C., Asteria looks to embrace both metropolitan convenience and small-town character. With over 4,000 diverse residences—from single-family and multifamily options, as well as designated senior living spaces—the enclave presents a unique opportunity to experience a lifestyle enriched by distinctive Disney placemaking.
Storyliving's “Disney touch” will bring curated amenities to the residents of Asteria, such as parks, quaint streets that lead to one central hub, and extensive walking and biking trails. The community will use exclusive club memberships to foster a strong sense of community, granting residents access to a wellness and recreation center, a gourmet restaurant, sport courts, and swimming pools.
“Our team has been working closely with Disney Imagineers to develop a unique vision for this project inspired by Walt Disney's innate curiosity and North Carolina's spirit of discovery,” says Claire Bilby, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Signature Experiences Emerging Businesses.

Asteria is in the early stages of planning. Storyliving by Disney's first community project, Cotino, is currently under development in Rancho Mirage, California. Pre-sales appointments for homebuying in the Cotino community are underway, while additional Storyliving by Disney locations are under exploration, according to the company.
“We're looking forward to collaborating with Disney to bring another Storyliving by Disney community to life,” said Brent Herrington, CEO, DMB Development. “Just as the desert setting inspired our teams with the Cotino community, North Carolina's rich landscape and history is at the heart of our initial planning work with Walt Disney Imagineering. We've got a lot of great ideas to showcase the beauty of this area.”
