MainStreet America, a multi-million dollar home shopping venue set on a 14-acre site, opened last weekend in Houston.

On the site are 12 model homes, as well as a two-story, 45,000-square-foot guest center. The homes feature a range of architectural and interior design styles, from Mediterranean to modern. The homes also double as a furniture showroom, allowing customers to shop for furnishings while they tour the functional model homes.

”One of the unique highlights of the park is that guests can access instant information on desired products in each showcase home through their use of our specially designed, hand-held Technological Education Device we call TED,” said Michael Feign, founder and CEO of MainStreet America. “The TED experience can best be described as online browsing combined with in-store shopping —taken to a whole new level.”

The guest center features a number of educational opportunities, including how-to workshops and self-guided tours of each show home. The center also provides a list of home services, including an on-site custom home builder, remodeling company, mortgage company, interior design studio, and residential architectural firm.

MainStreet America is open year-round, seven days a week, according to Feign. It will also host seasonal events, such as Christmas on MainStreet, featuring holiday lights and carolers, a Fall Festival, spring flower tours with Easter egg hunts, and summer events that include wine tastings and art gallery showings.
