According to Zillow Research, the median U.S. home value in April rose 8.7 percent to $215,600, the fastest rate since June 2006.
The growth is part of an upward trend that has been continuous since 2015. San Jose, Calif., saw the highest increase in median home price of any major market, at 26.2 percent. Las Vegas saw the second highest jump, at 16.5 percent.
Zillow’s research also found that the median U.S. rent grew by 2.5 percent year-over-year to $1,449 a month in April. Four of the five priciest rental markets are in California.
