The NAR said existing-home sales increased by 2.4 percent to an annual rate of 5.17 million units, The New York Times reports.
This number is the strongest reading since September of last year, and above economists’ expectations for a rise to a 5.1 million unit pace. The sales also more than reversed declines experienced in August, which pushed down the annual rate of sales to 5.05 million units.
