The Beswick Senior Apartments, designed specifically for veterans, opened Monday in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, CBS reports.
Dozens of veterans celebrated the unveiling of Beswick, created by developers East L.A. Community Corp. and New Directions, who teamed up in an effort to eliminate homelessness in the area. The apartments come furnished with essentials such as a bed, table, and chairs. Veteran Reginald Newbie, who spent the last 10 years homeless, told CBS, “I’ve been praying for a place of my own, and I guess God was listening.”
