Universities and research centers around the globe have been tinkering with the way we build, and Australian company Gutter Masters created an infographic to showcase the technologies we can expect to use in a couple of years.
Included in the list of seven techniques and technologies is the autonomous robotic construction system, which was developed by researchers at Harvard. Inspired by termite colonies, robots with four different kind of sensors are programmed to build and know where they can and can’t go during construction.
An innovation in materials includes self-healing concrete, which is concrete embedded with capsules of sodium silicate. When a crack forms, the capsules burst and release a gel-like healing agent that fills in the new void.
