Solar panels aren’t an option for everyone. Renters and homeowners with small roofs or lots of shady trees often cannot install PV panels on their own homes.
Communities are finding it more efficient to build solar gardens, where an array of panels at a centralized location (like a neighborhood park) can provide power for the homes nearby.
Huffington Post highlighted a Seattle community that constructed solar-paneled picnic shelters, and how local residents are benefitting from renewable energy they wouldn’t otherwise have.
