Schluter has unveiled a new profile line that provides finishing, transition and edge protection for resilient flooring.

“As design options for resilient flooring have grown, this covering has become a common choice in residential, commercial, and institutional settings alike,” the company says. “Properly finishing an installation with profiles that are durable, attractive, and functional has become a necessity as end users are seeking improved performance from resilient systems.”

Featuring profile options for floors, walls, and stairs, VinPro provides finishing and adds transition details. Designed with minimalism in mind, the line is composed of anodized aluminum for a durable product that matches the strength of resilient flooring, such as luxury vinyl tiles. Each profile can accommodate flooring that is an ⅛-inch to ¼-inch thick.

“The durable metal profiles provide long-lasting, unobtrusive installations with a sleek, minimalist reveal that blends in with any décor,” the company says. “They can be used in new and retrofit situations so they are ideal to upgrade the look and performance of an existing installation.”

For efficient fastening, the profiles’ length features even hole spacing. Because the profiles are designed with an anchoring leg taper that transitions from 1 millimeter to 0.5 millmeter thick, the company says builders do not need to use a leveling patch to prevent a peak from forming in the finished floor. The profiles also are equipped with a ¼-inch flange that can hide the cut edge of flooring and have an “unique punch-out design allows the head of the fastener to be installed flush with the anchoring legs surface.”

“Mimicking the natural looks of wood and stone using high-fidelity printing, the product is durable and realistic in both finish and texture,” the company says. “Following trends or creating custom layouts, resilient coverings are not limited to floors and can offer a fresh design and additional warmth to walls in a residential or commercial environment.”

Products in the line include:

  • VINPRO-U, a flooring profile for transitions to a lower elevation such as concrete floors
  • VINPRO-T, a flooring profile for retrofit applications for same-height flooring
  • VINPRO-S, a surface edge protection profile for carpet or wall-skirting applications
  • VINPRO-RO, a surface edge profile with rounded reveal for stairs and outside wall corners
  • VINPRO-STEP, a floor covering finishing and edge profile for stairs with slip protection

To install, builders can use either adhesive, fasteners, or both to achieve a streamlined look. If the profiles are used on concrete, the company recommends installing anchors to secure the screws.

Each profile comes in three brushed finishes: antique bronze, nickel, and chrome. Though the profiles do not come in custom colors, Schluter says that the three-color selection simplifies the design process and reduces overall project time by instead offering complementary accents to an array of flooring choices, which is easier than trying to match a specific hue. The finishes are also fungi and mold resistant for easy upkeep.
