Mild-Hybrid Truck | Chevrolet

May 8, 2016

Using technology components from other Chevrolet electric vehicles, GM is offering a “mild-hybrid” version of the 2016 Silverado with 13 percent better fuel economy in city driving, the company says. This low-volume Silverado will use the eAssist propulsion system to deliver an extra 13 hp and 44 lb-ft of torque from its 24-cell, air-cooled 0.45 kWh lithium-ion battery and will feature stop/start technology and regenerative braking to help provide a 2 mpg efficiency increase compared with other Silverados. Only 500 eAssist trucks will be made available for the 2016 model year and they’ll all be exclusively offered through California dealers.
