Construction work has always been risky, but some areas are more hazardous than others. While the industry is generally high-risk due to the nature of the tasks involved, workers in Nevada face the greatest danger, according to Pro Tool Reviews. In fact, 50.39% of Nevada’s construction workers have experienced work-related injuries or illnesses. This is likely due to factors such as extreme heat, desert conditions, and rough terrain, which increase the chances of accidents and health problems. Vermont and Maine also see higher rates of work-related injuries, with 31.89% and 15.24% of workers affected, respectively. However, many other states—including Maryland, Louisiana, and West Virginia—are making progress in improving workplace safety regulations.

Construction-related injuries and illnesses are declining in many US states, although the largest decrease in reported cases can be seen in Maryland. The number of construction injury and illness instances dropped by three-quarters (75%) from 2017 to 2022.
