As you evaluate your product offerings for the 2021, you’ll want to consider including this current favorite: the modern farmhouse.
Where Are Farmhouses Most Common?
From Arizona to Georgia, buyers are embracing a contemporary twist on this American classic, blending black-framed windows, white exteriors, wood accents, and open interiors.
"In the South, we're seeing a big push for a more modern farmhouse," says Terance Manly, a design studio manager for Taylor Morrison in Atlanta. "Expect to see light wood flooring, geometrical patterns, earthy undertones, shiplap and mid-century modern furniture with touches of leather and velvet."
If you’re looking for design ideas and inspiration for your 2021 plans, here are video tours of four different contemporary farmhouse examples, each with their own interpretation of this classic.
#1. Universal Design, Farmhouse-style
Infinite Home of Suwanee, Ga., used universal design to create this spacious custom contemporary farmhouse for a family of four. Don’t miss the pantry with the hidden door and basement guest suite.
#2. Black and White Modernity in a Farmhouse Design
This luxury farmhouse in Arizona has a contemporary feel inside and out with full-length, loft-style windows, a mix of black and white exteriors, and a connection to the outdoors with intentional views of Camelback Mountain. Check out the distinctive fireplace.
#3. One-Story Modern Farmhouse Living
Schumacher Homes adapts the farmhouse to one-level living with its Charleston modern farmhouse product in Raleigh-Durham, N.C. It features the black-and-white color palette, front porch, and four bedrooms.
#4. Warm Interiors at this contemporary Georgia farmhouse
Builder William Collins of W.T. Collins Homes gives viewers the tour of this contemporary Georgia farmhouse, which has warmer touches—exposed brick, wooden beams, and sliding wooden barn doors—than many versions of this product type. A wood-burning fireplace on the screen porch adds comfort to outdoor gatherings.
