College towns are often known for their small-town charm and affordability. But that's not the case for the locations of some of the most prestigious universities in the U.S. According to real estate market platform Realtor.com, some of the heftiest home prices can be found in Palo Alto, Calif., which is home to Stanford University and has a median home price of $3.73 million. Meanwhile, Baltimore, home to Johns Hopkins University, boasts some of the lowest home prices, with a median listing price of $225,000.
“The country’s top universities boast state-of-the-art facilities and access to a top-notch education. However, many of these towns also come with a relatively high cost of living and high home prices,” says Realtor.com senior economic data analyst Hannah Jones.
