Aging seniors on fixed incomes could be the new homeless over the next several decades if the private sector and the government don’t begin thinking about building and expanding affordable housing options in cities and rural communities.

Advocates for aging issues presented possible solutions for integrating housing for seniors with health care and other vital services during a recent panel discussion at the ULI Housing Opportunity 2017 Conference in New Orleans. Other innovations included senior housing developers discussing the impact of staffing on-site service coordinators at housing centers on reducing hospitalization and case studies of mixing senior and market-rate housing with retail.
