This Ohio Program Introduces Young Women to Careers in Construction

The Let’s Build Construction Camp is a free, five-day program that gives girls first-hand knowledge of careers in construction and the skilled trades

A program in Canfield, Ohio aims to introduce more women to the construction industry. According to metal roofing solutions company and camp sponsor S-5!, the Let’s Build Construction Camp for Girls is a five-day camp for girls ages 12 through 17. 

According to S-5!, the camp teaches attendees about careers in construction and the skilled trades. The camp is run by volunteers and supported by unions, trade associations, and sponsors, making it free for participants. 

Shelly Higgins, S-5!’s architectural and national accounts director, is the founder and director of the program.“Our mission is to encourage young women to consider careers in architecture, engineering, manufacturing or construction trades through education, hands-on experiences, interactive discussions, mentoring and field trips.”
