The U.S. is now using green energy to meet 9.8 percent of its energy needs, according to the Energy Information Administration.
Renewable energy use in the U.S. is at its highest level in 85 years and has grown 5 percent per year since 2001. Wind energy has seen the largest growth rate but old-school technologies continue to dominate green energy production, CNN reported. Hydro, wood, biofuels, wind, waste, solar, and geothermal energy are the top seven renewable energy technologies getting the most use.
